Quality concepts from an Islamic perspective
The greatest thing that distinguishes our true Islamic religion is that it is a divine and complete religion that is suitable for guiding humanity throughout the ages and times, in addition to its comprehensiveness for all affairs of life. Yen) (An-Nahl: 89), and for this reason, Islamic administrative thought is distinguished from Other man-made systems based on the Holy Qur’an and the purified Sunnah of the Prophet, including the constants they carry, and the good link between religion and the world, through its emphasis on the importance of work and its improvement in the life of a Muslim according to the highest standards of accuracy and perfection in application of the teachings of our true religion, which urges the mastery of work and its quality in order to achieve the highest The degrees of the relationship with God, Blessed and Exalted be He, namely Ihsaan (to worship God as if you see Him, and if you do not see Him, then He sees you). The highest degrees of mastery and perfection, as in the era of Omar bin Abdul Aziz.
The Islamic religion has rooted the meaning and value of mastery or benevolence, which is (the thought of quality), so the Muslim in all his religious and worldly deeds is required not only to obey and do the work, but also to the perfect work. The vision of total quality management enhances the value of this system and increases the chances of its application in Islamic societies. As our righteous ancestors previously applied it in many religious and worldly fields.
The Muslim should embody in his religious behavior and practical life some concepts related to total quality, including:
The concept of benevolence:
God Almighty says: (Who created death and life to test which of you is best in deed, and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving) (Al-Mulk: 02)
Ihsaan here is perfecting the work so that it becomes to the fullest extent. Worshiping God, the Muslim must perform his worship as if he sees God or as if God sees him. And if the work is for people, it must be performed to the fullest, as if the employer is present and following it, and this applies with the concept of continuous improvement of performance in total quality management.
The concept of mastery:
God Almighty says: {The work of God who perfected everything} (An-Nahl: 88)
It means doing the work to the fullest extent and without shortcomings in it, counting for that reward and reward, which leads to voluntariness in doing the work, and this is one of the indications that strengthens the activation of the concept of quality and excellence within organizations, especially charitable ones.
The concept of teamwork and cooperation:
God Almighty says:
This Islamic approach urges teamwork, so we find that all acts of worship combine individual assignment and collective performance, and lead to the development of group spirit. There is no doubt that this coincides with the principle of participation of workers in total quality management, and the need to work in a spirit of one team based on cooperation to achieve the desired goals of work.
* The concept of provisions:
God Almighty says: {Then We made you follow a law of the matter, so follow it and do not follow the whims of those who do not know} (Al-Jathiya: 18)
Judgments are the balance of the quality of business in its appearance, and the criterion of quality of performance and mastery of practice. This represents the principle of conformity with the standards and standards established in the total quality management system, with the aim of avoiding confusion, randomness and improvisation.
The concept of oversight:
The Almighty said {Indeed, God is ever watchful over you} (An-Nisa: 1).
The principle of oversight in a Muslim’s life, whether internal or external, is to ensure that the objectives set are achieved accurately in accordance with Sharia standards, standards, and controls. This is consistent with the principle of quality control in the total quality management system.
* The concept of a sense of responsibility:
The Almighty said: “Every soul is a pledge for what it has earned.” (Al-Muddaththir: 38)
This generates in the Muslim a sense of full responsibility towards all his actions, words and limbs, as the Most High said: himself to the family circle to the community circle to the nation’s circle, and his sense of responsibility is directly proportional to the power, wealth, or power he has been given.” And the individuals’ application of this concept is one of the biggest pillars of the success of total quality management, which agrees that total quality is the responsibility of all workers.
* The concept of Shura:
The Almighty said: {And their affairs were to be consulted among themselves} (Al-Shura: 38) and He said: “And consult them in the matter” (Al-Imran: 159).
Islam called for adherence to the principle of consultation through consultation with individuals in making decisions and solving problems in order to extract from this consultation the best and best opinions. This Islamic principle is consistent with participation in decision-making and problem-solving in total quality management.
The concept of time:
One of the most important Islamic principles is the encouragement to make use of one’s time and to spend it on what is useful in this world and the Hereafter. The Messenger, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: The son of Adam’s foot will not move away from his Lord on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked about five things: about his life and what he spent it on, about his youth and how he wore it out, and about Where did he earn his money and how did he spend it, and what did he do with what he learned (Sahih Al-Tirmidhi: 2416), so time management and its good management and utilization are among the most important factors for the success of total quality management.
Of course, there is no room for comparison between the divine approach and the human approach, for the comparison is to emphasize an important fact: that the administrative approach in Islam is the standard and the ideal model to follow, and there are two facts that must be emphasized:
The first: that the typical Islamic system does not
It abolishes or diminishes the value of human activity and the management theories it contains as long as it does not criticize the Islamic curriculum or contradict its principles, principles and values. These systems and theories have enriched human thought with innovations, models and applied methods.
The second: that the Islamic curriculum is characterized by constancy in principles, principles and values, and at the same time it is characterized by flexibility and openness to other systems and theories, ancient and modern, in order to benefit from its findings.
Finally, our true religion builds for us applied models (such as prayer, fasting…) that demonstrate the depth of these concepts in all our worship and what they include in terms of pillars, conditions and duties that require adherence to them in order to achieve the goal, which is the satisfaction of God Almighty, and this is what the concepts of total quality management adopt in administrative thought. Contemporary in working to achieve the wishes of the client.
And may God’s blessings and peace be upon the most honorable of the prophets and messengers, our master Muhammad, his family and all his companions.
