Integrated model for designing food processing systems

Research about food manufacturing

This research aims to develop a general framework for the design of integrated manufacturing systems that are compatible with the selected research environment, which is the Palestinian industrial environment, including the special conditions that control the inputs and outputs of any manufacturing system.

The researcher chose the food industry sector as a research case that can be considered and measured. Industrial aims to achieve the strategic goals that companies and institutions are established in order to achieve them, and the manufacturing systems that currently operate in the Palestinian industrial environment, specifically the food industries sector, suffer from many problems that limit the possibility of achieving those goals that investors aspire to achieve. The researcher used both research methodologies – quantitative and qualitative – to complete his research work, as he conducted three direct interviews with representatives of the companies included in the research, in addition to using the electronic questionnaire method that was designed and distributed through e-mail for each of the research sample members, which consisted of An industrial facility specialized in food processing.

completed questionnaires were returned, with a response rate of 69% of the target sample. After analyzing the information received through the questionnaire and direct interviews, the results showed that the manufacturing systems in the Palestinian food establishments suffer from many problems, the most important of which is the weakness of the planning and design process that precedes the establishment of these systems, as 62% of the research sample reported that there are no written and clear strategic goals for them. In addition to the presence of a clear imbalance in the process of linking the needs of the target market and the production capacity that the production system is chosen to achieve, which means that these selected production systems are not fully occupied, as the results showed that more than 40% of the research sample use less than 50% of the production capacity of their facilities. The researcher developed this model under the title of Designing Food Processing Systems in (Palestine), which is a tool that helps designers of manufacturing systems in the research environment b:

1. Providing a clear understanding of the components of the manufacturing system and its different levels

2. Linking the tactical activities that are implemented at the operational level

3. Clarify the mechanisms and points of interdependence and integration between the components of this system in order to enable the owners of these systems to achieve the goals they seek to achieve and achieve the maximum benefit by reducing costs, raising quality and achieving optimal utilization of the system.

productivity and fully satisfying the desires and needs of customers. The researcher has also developed a working mechanism to implement and apply this model in the research environment.
